Job Title: Ocean Lifeguard – Buxton Beach

Location: Buxton Beach, Buxton, NC
Period of Performance: Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day
Reports To: Lifeguard Supervisor / Site Manager

Position Summary:
Deliver professional lifeguard services on Buxton Beach, ensuring public safety, water rescue readiness, and compliance with National Park Service regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff assigned guard station daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Mark and monitor designated 100-meter swim zone.
Provide proactive rescue surveillance and emergency response.
Maintain condition flag visibility and update surf conditions as needed.
Utilize and care for all assigned rescue and safety equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

18+ years old
Certified by USLA or equivalent
Prior open water rescue training or 2 years’ experience
Current CPR and First Aid certification
Capable of meeting USLA physical fitness benchmarks
