Job Title: Senior IT Systems Engineer (Cloud Engineer)
Place of Performance: Remote (U.S.-based only)
Minimum Experience: 8+ years in IT systems engineering, including 3+ years in cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred)
Rate: $45/hr - $50/hr (202 hours through Sept 29, 2025; regular full-time hours beginning October 2025)
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: Through September 2026 (with potential for extension)

Position Overview:
GD Resources is seeking a skilled Senior IT Systems Engineer (Cloud Engineer) to support a mission-critical federal initiative. The role focuses on maintaining, scaling, and securing a hybrid cloud infrastructure within a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep cloud architecture expertise, strong scripting capabilities, and proven experience supporting Azure GovCloud and M365 GCC High environments. A current Top Secret clearance is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support hybrid cloud infrastructure including Azure GovCloud and M365 GCC High.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across VMs, physical servers, appliances, and on-prem/cloud systems.
  • Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud-based resources.
  • Lead cloud migration and IT deployment projects with focus on optimization and compliance.
  • Automate tasks and integrate CI/CD pipelines using PowerShell and Bash scripting.
  • Monitor cloud resources, analyze usage trends, and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) infrastructure and related cloud applications.
  • Perform routine OS upgrades, patch management, and system performance tuning.
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support and guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal knowledge base.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, and other core network services.
  • Participate in technical reviews, contribute to policy development, and recommend process improvements.
  • Support service request fulfillment and manage incident tickets per agency quality levels (AQL).
  • Debug and maintain custom scripts and tools supporting the IT environment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. (Relevant experience may substitute.)
  • 3+ years of cloud engineering in support of cloud infrastructure and applications to include:
    • Microsoft Azure (GCC High)
    • Microsoft 365 (GCC High)
    • Active Directory
  • Certifications (Required):
    • CompTIA Security+
    • Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator
