Job Title: Systems Architect
Place of Performance: 50 Wolf Road, 2nd Floor, Albany, NY 12233
Minimum Experience: 7+ years in systems architecture, including cloud platforms and L3 application-layer support
Rate: $63/hr - $76/hr (Final offer will depend on experience)
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 30 Months
Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST
Remote Work: Hybrid – 50% Telecommuting Allowed (e.g., 2 days Week 1; 3 days Week 2)

Position Overview
GD Resources is seeking an Expert Systems Architect to support a long-term, high-impact transportation technology initiative. The role involves leading architectural planning and implementation, providing L3 technical support, and coordinating with multiple stakeholder teams to ensure alignment with enterprise IT and security strategies. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your deep expertise across application, infrastructure, and cloud technologies in a critical public-sector environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to align system capabilities with enterprise technology and security strategies
  • Serve as Lead Architect, articulating technical concepts and negotiating changes with vendors and stakeholders
  • Review and improve current systems architecture; provide specifications for enhancements or replacements
  • Manage Severity 1 and 2 incident triage related to transportation applications
  • Deliver Level 3 technical support at the application layer for COTS and custom-built applications
  • Act as the primary escalation point for Level 2 support teams
  • Analyze technical changes for system impact and define testing requirements
  • Track and manage technical issues using service management and ticketing systems
  • Support complex system interconnectivity and integration efforts
  • Conduct system monitoring and log analysis using enterprise-grade tools

Qualifications
  • 84 months experience understanding agency/business areas functional and non-functional requirements to translate to technical and security architecture requirements. This experience must include creation of architecture design documentation covering data flows; interfaces with other systems; authentication; etc.
  • 84 months experience architecting, installing, configuring and performance tuning COTS and custom built business applications on Windows-based platforms. This includes application components such as IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic; and, application-layer authentication/ integration using ADFS, SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
  • 84 months experience solutioning and architecting COTS and custom built business applications in Cloud Computing platforms with AWS, Azure and GCP.
  • 84 months experience performing L3 Analytical and Technical support specifically at the Application Layer for Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and custom built business applications. This experience must go beyond general system administration and demonstrate deep knowledge of application behavior, interdependencies, and issue resolution in Windows environments.
  • 60 months experience performing L3 Analytical and Technical support of COTS and custom built business applications interfaces & system interconnects (Networks, Stealth firewall software, F5 and Load Balancing) implemented on converged/mixed environments to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues using tools like WireShark, Process Monitor, Netstat, Ping, Traceroute, TelNet, etc.
  • 60 months experience performing L3 Analytical and Technical support of COTS and custom built business applications using tools like DynaTrace and Splunk for log analysis, system monitoring, and system performance tuning
  • 60 months experience architecting and integrating COTS and custom built business applications using API Gateways (Akana) and Content Management (FileNet).
