Position Overview:
The Commander, Naval Surface Forces (COMNAVSURFOR), is seeking an Office Automation Assistant to support the Force Safety Office at Naval Station Norfolk, VA. This role supports the Mishap Prevention and Reporting Program by managing, inputting, and analyzing data within the Navy’s Risk Management Information – Streamlined Incident Reporting (RMI-SIR) system.
The role is integral to ensuring safe operations by identifying trends and supporting the development of preventive safety strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform data input and management using RMI-SIR.
Source and organize information for timely and accurate reporting.
Ensure adherence to Navy and DoD data compliance requirements.
Analyze safety data for trends and risk identification.
Coordinate with internal safety officials and follow COR/TPOC direction.
Assist with audits and internal quality checks.
Ensure secure handling of sensitive data in compliance with DoD policy.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of experience in administrative, office automation, or data-focused roles.
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
U.S. citizenship (required for federal positions).
Able to obtain/maintain appropriate clearance.
Preferred:
Experience with RMI-SIR or other Navy/DoD data systems.
Previous work in a military or federal government setting.

May require limited travel or work aboard ships.
