Medical Gas Systems Preventative Maintenance and Testing technician
GD Resources LLC is seeking a qualified and experienced technician to provide preventative maintenance, inspection, testing, compliance evaluation, and emergency repair services for medical gas systems at the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System. Services shall be performed in accordance with NFPA 99, Veterans Health Administration (VHA) standards and directives, OSHA requirements, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable industry standards.
Scope of Services:
Preventative Maintenance & Testing
The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, tools, testing instruments, and equipment necessary to perform quarterly preventative maintenance and annual inspection/testing services for the following systems:
- Medical Air Systems
- Medical Surgical Vacuum Systems
- Dental Air Systems
- Dental Vacuum Systems
- Medical Oxygen Systems
- Nitrogen Systems
- Nitrous Oxide Systems
- Waste Anesthetic Gas Disposal (WAGD) Systems
Services shall include, but are not limited to:
- Inspection and testing of alarms, gauges, valves, outlets, inlets, pipelines, and control panels
- Flow, pressure, purity, particulate contamination, and dew point testing
- Leak detection and operational pressure testing
- Inspection of compressors, pumps, filters, drains, belts, dryers, and monitoring systems
- Verification of labeling, installation integrity, brazing, supports, and identification
- Testing for crossed lines and system contamination
- Maintenance and adjustment of terminal units, locking mechanisms, O-rings, and fittings
- Calibration and verification of alarm systems and warning devices
- Medical air purity testing in accordance with NFPA 99 standards
- Minor corrective maintenance during inspections at no additional cost
System Evaluation & Compliance
The contractor shall evaluate all existing oxygen, medical air, medical vacuum, and nitrous oxide systems for compliance with:
- NFPA 99
- VHA standards and directives
- Manufacturer requirements
- Applicable healthcare and safety regulations
Emergency & Urgent Repair Services
The contractor shall provide emergency and urgent response services as required:
- Emergency response within one (1) hour, 24/7
- Urgent response within four (4) hours
- Continuous repair efforts until system functionality is restored
Reporting Requirements
The contractor shall submit inspection and testing reports within five (5) business days following service completion. Reports shall include:
- Cover sheet
- Property/facility information
- Detailed test results
- Certifications and inspector signatures
- Documentation of deficiencies or recommended repairs
Required Qualifications:
- ASSE 6030 Medical Gas Systems Verifier Certification
- ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Maintenance Certification
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of medical gas systems
- Demonstrated experience working in healthcare or critical care environments
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 99, OSHA requirements, Joint Commission standards, and VHA directives
- Ability to provide emergency and urgent repair response services
