Job Summary:
The Dining Hall Attendant is responsible for ensuring a clean, sanitary, and well-maintained dining facility while providing excellent service to military personnel. This role includes food service support, housekeeping, and adherence to health and safety standards as outlined by federal and Air Force regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Replenish tableware, utensils, condiments, and dining supplies to ensure availability for patrons.
- Clean and sanitize dining areas, tables, chairs, and food service lines during and after meals.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, including dishwashing and equipment sanitation.
- Perform regular floor cleaning, spot cleaning, and waste management tasks.
- Inspect and clean walk-in coolers, freezers, and trash disposal areas.
- Support the base recycling program by sorting and disposing of waste properly.
- Assist with special event preparations and emergency operations when needed.
Requirements:
- Must comply with FDA Food Code 2022 and Air Force sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow strict hygiene practices, including wearing uniforms, hairnets, and maintaining personal cleanliness.
- Must be physically capable of performing cleaning duties (bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods).
- Food handler’s certification (can be provided by the Shelby Co. Public Health Department).
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and work in a team environment.
- Prior experience in food service or janitorial work is a plus but not required.
Work Schedule:
- Saturdays and Sundays during Regularly Scheduled Drills (RSD):
- Saturday and Sunday: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- If breakfast is served: 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM (usually Sunday)
- Potential work during Super Drills on Thursdays and Fridays.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, and exposure to kitchen environments.
