Position Overview

The Catholic Parish Coordinator is responsible for providing ecclesiastical, administrative, and coordination support to the Fort Knox Catholic Community. This includes overseeing worship services, sacraments, and special liturgical events, ensuring smooth operations of parish activities in accordance with Catholic traditions, Army regulations, and Fort Knox Religious Support Office policies.


Key Responsibilities

Liturgical and Sacramental Coordination

  • Coordinate and support the planning of weekly Sunday Mass and other liturgical services.
  • Assist with preparation for sacraments such as First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
  • Facilitate special events aligned with the liturgical calendar, including Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, and holy days of obligation.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate records of sacraments and parish functions, adhering to Army and diocesan policies.
  • Schedule meetings, manage communications, and provide clerical support, including document preparation and filing.
  • Submit monthly invoices and reports to the COR and other designated parties.

Parish Engagement

  • Collaborate with the Catholic Chaplain, Parish Advisory Council, Eucharistic Ministers, and volunteers to ensure effective ministry operations.
  • Coordinate religious education classes, sacramental preparation meetings, and parish events.
  • Serve as a welcoming point of contact for parish members and visitors.

Compliance and Training

  • Ensure compliance with Army regulations, privacy policies, and local security requirements.
  • Complete required training, including Antiterrorism Awareness, iWATCH, and OPSEC.
  • Safeguard government-provided property, information, and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of two years in Catholic worship, education, or liturgical coordination.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of Catholic dogma, liturgy, Canon Law, and diocesan regulations.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in record-keeping and event coordination.
  • Other: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in a military environment.

Work Conditions

  • Hours: 10 hours per week, with primary duties on Sunday mornings and flexible weekday hours.
  • Location: Fort Knox chapels and other religious facilities.

Performance Standards

  • Achieve 95% compliance with weekly and monthly duties as outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
