Position Overview:
Tech Valley Talent (TVT), an HBITS PRIME Vendor, is seeking an Expert Systems Architect to join the Imaging Team at the New York State Department of Tax and Finance. This team is responsible for developing shared services and code generators used by all Department applications, as well as maintaining and modernizing the e-MPIRE imaging platform—critical to processing programs that generate billions in revenue for New York State and local governments. This solution enhances decision-making, boosts productivity, improves public access, and mitigates risks from outdated technology
 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead architecture design for complex, multi-tiered systems, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements.
  • Assist in the modernization of e-MPIRE imaging systems by identifying and implementing alternative solutions.
  • Utilize AIX Shell Scripting on UNIX platforms and DB2 expertise for application performance tuning.
  • Participate in all phases of the SDLC, including requirements gathering, system design, development, testing, and production support.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the development team.

Qualifications:

  • 7 years experience with government organizations, encompassing business process knowledge, technical design, development, maintenance, and end-user support for complete business-related processing systems.
  • 7 years experience in UNIX and AIX OS, including Shell Scripting and CRON TAB usage.
  • 4 years experience with IBM Content Manager OnDemand application, including administration and client usage.
  • 7 years experience in performance tuning for applications interacting with DB2 databases.

Preferred Educational Attainment:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
