GD Resources LLC is seeking a qualified Ultrasound Technician (Radiologic Technologist) to provide on-site diagnostic imaging services for the adult in custody (AIC) population at a federal correctional facility. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of ultrasound and echocardiogram procedures, operating independently, and ensuring timely delivery of diagnostic results.
This position requires both clinical expertise and the ability to work in a secure correctional environment.
Work Schedule
- 2 service visits per quarter
- Each visit: 8-hour shift (typically between 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Maximum: 16 hours per quarter (~64 hours annually)
- Schedule may be adjusted based on facility needs
- No work on Federal holidays (unless required)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ultrasound and echocardiogram procedures as ordered by medical staff
- Operate and maintain portable ultrasound equipment (provided by contractor)
- Independently conduct imaging and ensure diagnostic-quality results
- Transmit studies and reports electronically in a timely manner
- Identify and communicate preliminary abnormalities to physicians
- Maintain patient records, logs, and exam documentation
- Perform routine equipment calibration, QA checks, and maintenance
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure continuity of care
- Follow all clinical protocols, safety standards, and infection control practices
- Work effectively with a diverse patient population
- Comply with all correctional facility procedures and security requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited ultrasound/echocardiography program
- Certification from the
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) - Must be certified in:
- General Ultrasound
- Vascular
- Echocardiography
- Abdomen
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an ultrasound technician
- Current CPR certification
- Must carry medical liability insurance
- Ability to work independently without technical support
Clearance & Compliance Requirements
- Must pass:
- Background investigation (including NCIC and fingerprinting)
- Drug screening
- Security clearance process
- Must comply with:
- Privacy Act requirements
- Institutional policies and procedures
- Infection control and communicable disease protocols
Equipment Requirement
- Contractor must provide:
- Portable ultrasound imaging equipment
- Equipment must meet facility approval standards
- Must be maintained and fully operational at all times
Work Environment Considerations
- Services performed inside a federal correctional facility
- Regular interaction with adult in custody (AIC) population
- Must maintain professional boundaries and security awareness
- Delays may occur due to institutional or security conditions
Dress Code
- Professional attire required (scrubs permitted)
- No green or khaki scrubs
- Clothing must be appropriate for a correctional environment
Restrictions
The contractor will not:
- Supervise inmates or BOP staff
- Participate in custody or security operations
- Develop institutional policies
- Handle government procurement actions
