Location: Onsite, 1201 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208
Salary: USD131,000 – USD160,000

Background: GD Resources seeks a Network Security Engineer to support our client in maintaining robust information security frameworks by identifying vulnerabilities, evaluating risks, and implementing effective security measures. The position emphasizes vulnerability detection and management, network security assessments, and the design and maintenance of secure network architectures. It also involves performing web application security testing, creating and updating security policies, and staying informed on emerging security trends and technologies.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform regular vulnerability detection and risk evaluations across workstations, servers, and network devices, focusing on patch management, configuration errors, and security flaws.
- Prioritize and manage system vulnerabilities based on risk, performing patching and proposing mitigation strategies where patches are not viable.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and audits of network security to identify risks, compliance gaps, and security vulnerabilities, and propose improvements.
- Assist in the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of network security architectures and solutions.
- Provide expert guidance on configuring, installing, and upgrading network security devices including routers, firewalls, VPNs, switches, and proxies.
- Perform vulnerability assessments of web applications to identify potential security risks and address them proactively.
- Map and document data flow across the network, ensuring compliance with security standards and regulations.
- Assist with the creation, review, and documentation of network security policies and procedures.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and developments in network security to ensure the department’s systems remain resilient against evolving threats.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline or four (4) years of equivalent experience in a related field.
- One or more of the certifications below:
- CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials Certification)
- CCNA or CCNP
- Fluent with Microsoft Windows, Linux, Tenable and Nessus, SolarWinds, and Cisco network equipment.
- Familiar with Oracle and SQL databases, Cisco Firepower, Infoblox, CIS Critical Security Controls, NIST SPs and FIPS, MECM, and zero trust architecture.
- Have in-depth knowledge of network protocols, standards, and best practices, as well as C# and vb.net programming and scripting skills.
