The VA Medical Center in Memphis is seeking a dedicated and skilled Board Certified or Board Eligible Plastic Surgery Physician to provide comprehensive surgical care to our nation's Veterans. The successful candidate will deliver a full range of plastic surgery services in both inpatient and outpatient settings and participate in on-call duties.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat surgical conditions requiring plastic and reconstructive surgery

  • Perform pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care

  • Provide consultations to other medical specialties within the VA system

  • Participate in clinical oversight, quality assurance, and continuous performance improvement

  • Collaborate with physician assistants and other medical staff for coordinated patient care

  • Maintain timely and complete documentation in the VA’s electronic health record (EHR) system (CPRS/VistA)

  • Participate in mandatory annual trainings and comply with all VA policies and directives

  • Support teaching and supervision of health trainees if applicable

  • Ensure communication of test results per VHA Directive 1088(1)


Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school

  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS)

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications

  • Completion of VA-required annual training (e.g., HIPAA, Suicide Prevention, Active Threat)

  • Must be proficient in English (written and spoken)

  • Must meet credentialing and privileging standards as per VHA Directives 1100.20 and 1100.21

  • Able to obtain and maintain clearance through VetPro and comply with infection control requirements (TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza, COVID-19)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior VA experience

  • Active DEA registration

  • Strong documentation and communication skills

  • Familiarity with VA EHR systems (VistA, CPRS)


Other Requirements:

  • Participate in the on-call rotation as required

  • Submit to a thorough background check and credentialing process

  • Provide CME documentation and maintain privileges according to VA regulations

  • Meet all immunization and OSHA bloodborne pathogen training standards
