Job Title: Ocean Lifeguard – Ocracoke Beach

Location: Ocracoke Beach, Ocracoke Island, NC
Period of Performance: Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day
Reports To: Lifeguard Supervisor / Site Manager

Position Summary:
Perform professional ocean lifeguard duties at Ocracoke Beach, safeguarding swimmers, conducting rescues, and maintaining a secure beach environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the designated swim area from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Install daily zone markers and surf condition signage.
Deliver life-saving care, CPR, and first aid when necessary.
Collaborate with National Park Service staff on beach safety protocols.
Perform equipment checks and readiness drills.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least 18 years of age
USLA certification or equivalent
2 years’ experience or completed ocean rescue training
CPR and First Aid certified
Physically fit to USLA standards for lifeguards
