Position Overview:
The Payment Programs team supports legacy systems that handle financial operations, including mainframe and distributed components. As part of our client's modernization efforts, there is an ongoing transitioning from these systems to modern tech stacks while reducing our mainframe footprint. We are seeking a z/OS / Java Developer to aid in maintaining and modernizing these systems, including OMAS, FMRS, Uniform Allowance, and EAPS, with a focus on mainframe and Java integration.

As part of our client's modernization efforts, there is an ongoing transitioning from these systems to modern tech stacks while reducing our mainframe footprint. We are seeking a z/OS / Java Developer to aid in maintaining and modernizing these systems, including OMAS, FMRS, Uniform Allowance, and EAPS, with a focus on mainframe and Java integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and support mainframe applications, ensuring the seamless operation of critical business systems.
- Write, test, and maintain JCL, COBOL, VSAM, and MQ code for system processes.
- Utilize REXX and SAS scripting for process automation, data manipulation, and system enhancements.
- Work with mainframe communication tools such as CICS and MQ to ensure robust system interactions and functionality.
- Ensure system security compliance, including familiarity with RACF protocols.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Java developers, to support integration and modernization initiatives.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize mainframe systems for performance and reliability.
- Contribute to the documentation of mainframe operations and applications.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mainframe development, including IBM z/OS, JCL, COBOL, VSAM, and MQ.
- Proficiency in REXX and SAS scripting for automation and data manipulation on mainframe systems.
- In-depth experience in mainframe application development and ongoing support.
- Strong knowledge of mainframe communication tools like CICS and MQ.
- Familiarity with mainframe security protocols, including RACF.
- Expertise in JCL, COBOL, VSAM, MQ, and CICS.
- Strong proficiency in REXX and SAS scripting for mainframe process automation and data manipulation.
- Knowledge of best practices for mainframe development and support, including performance optimization and error resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DevOps practices in a mainframe environment.
- Familiarity with MQ and Apache Kafka integration.
- Prior experience with performance tuning of mainframe systems.
- Strong experience in documenting mainframe operations and applications.
